Resources

Australian Renewable Energy Mapping Infrastructure (AREMI)

An open geospatial data portal providing spatial data for the renewable energy industry. It facilitates access to multiple geospatially tagged datasets of various formats in one location. Data is sourced from Geoscience Australia, the Bureau of Meteorology, ARENA projects and the Australia Bureau of Statistics. Users can overlay multiple data sets such as population, infrastructure, power utilities and protected habitats or even their own internal data services.

AREMI contains National and State datasets for biogas facilities and bioenergy data may be integrated with other layers on AREMI, such as electricity infrastructure, to aid in decision making.

Australian Biomass for Bioenergy Assessment Project (ABBA)

This project aimed to support Australian bioenergy networks by collecting feedstock location and availability data and integrating it with data used by AREMI to improve connections between biomass suppliers and end-users.

Funded by the Australian Renewable Energy Agency (ARENA), a final ABBA report is available on the ARENA website.

This project was completed on 30 August 2021.

ARENA - Australian Renewable Energy Agency

The ARENA site provides detailed information about bioenergy projects including reports and links to case studies:

Bioenergy Kickstarter
