The Department of Primary Industries and Regional Development's South Perth Library has a large collection of agricultural information and is open to the public.

The library service began in 1894 when the former Department of Agriculture was formed and now has an extensive collection on agriculture in Western Australia.

With the change to provision of digital information services, most of the material is housed in secure outlying storage. The location of an item is noted in the library catalogue. Visitors are encouraged to search the catalogue and ask the library staff for assistance in retrieving items located in storage. Material from the collection can be photocopied for research or private study by visitors.

The library is open from 9am to 4pm, Monday to Friday.

Search the Library collection

Library catalogue — search the catalogue records for books, print journal subscriptions and the DPIRD (formerly DAFWA) published archival collection.

Library Discovery service — use the Discovery layer to find specific journal articles and ebooks where you are a DPIRD staff member and have access to licensed subscriptions. The library will soon provide access to a research digital repository for full text versions of the DPIRD published archival collection.

Research Library – search the Research Library for full text (PDF) documents from the archival collection published in 2010 and prior that are no longer available on the DPIRD website.
