Importing animals
Many animals, including livestock, birds, fish, insects and native animals and even some pets can carry exotic pests and diseases that could pose a biosecurity threat to Western Australia. Many entry conditions are applied to these animals, animal feed and their bedding. Some animals are also prohibited into Western Australia while others may require import and keeping permits to be issued prior to import. Most animals are subject to quarantine inspection on arrival in Western Australia and birdseed, fodder and bedding will require removal from cages. Please see the related articles on this page for advice on importing animals and associated products into Western Australia from other states and territories of Australia.
