Technology and the use of data insights play an integral role in ensuring Western Australia’s agricultural sector remains profitable and sustainable.

The eConnect+ Project provides information and agtech tools to create cost and time efficiencies for WA’s primary producers.

Funded by the State Government, eConnect+ is delivering:

Extrata®

This exciting new agricultural data exchange hub is designed to assist primary producers to securely share and leverage their farm data.

Using end-to-end data encryption and API technology, Extrata allows users to securely share data from their various cloud platforms. Once shared, this data can be used to generate valuable insights to inform decision-making and promote efficient and profitable farm management.

Automatic Weather Stations upgraded to 4G

The Department of Primary Industries and Regional Development's network of automatic weather stations have been upgraded from 3G to 4G technology.

Further to Telstra’s announcement that 3G will discontinue in June 2024, DPIRD undertook an extensive state-wide operation to upgrade its network of weather stations.

Completed in January 2024, the improved equipment ensures that the popular weather service can continue to provide real-time weather information for primary producers and the regions.

ServiceWA

DPIRD’s Weather Website is now also available via the State Government’s ServiceWA app. Inclusion on the app provides another way to access detailed weather information such as air temperature, rainfall, windspeed and more.
