Green Waste to Net Zero (Biochar Program)
Project Overview:
- Recipient: Wilson Inlet Catchment Committee
- Location: Denmark, WA
- Total funding: $52,914
Wilson Inlet Catchment Committee Inc (WICC) aim to determine the viability of converting the Shire of Denmark's green waste and compostable municipal solid waste to biochar which can be utilised to benefit agricultural production throughout the region. This program has two parts: Phase 1 - Data collection and analysis of converting waste to agricultural biochar (Greenwaste feedstock data sampling, conversion optimisation, biochar data characterisation, market research, economics). Phase 2 - Operational pilot with farm trials. If successful, WICC will provide a pathway for regional WA to convert green waste and municipal solid waste to benefit agricultural productivity and also sequester CO2-e in the process.
