My role in the department

Hossein is a research scientist who is working on genetic improvement for disease resistance with Grains Research & Industry Innovation. His current research is on cereal disease resistance, specialised on phenotyping for resistance to septoria nodorum blotch and powdery mildew on wheat.

My background

As a plant pathologist with over 28 years’ experience on plant disease resistance and plant disease diagnostics, Hossein has worked on sources of resistance to cereal fungal diseases, and identification of plant pathogens, specialised on fungal taxonomy related to plant diseases. He is currently working with the cereal pathology team, providing a plant disease diagnostic service for local agricultural industries in WA.
