Treatments

Six varieties - Cobra, Corack, Emu Rock, Mace, Magenta, Wyalkatchem

Two times of sowing (early sowing close to the break, late sowing 3-4 weeks after the first sowing)

Three nitrogen rates - nil (basal fertiliser), low (30kg N, target 10% protein) and high (60kgN, target 11% protein)

Time of sowing (TOS)

TOS 1: 6 May 2013 (dry)

TOS 2: 28 May 2013 (wet)

Seeding rate Equivalent to 60kg/ha based on plant density (150plants/m2), seed weight (mg) and germination % for each variety. Established population was 140plants/m2.
Fertiliser

100kg/ha superphosphate at seeding plus:

For 6N - 12kg/ha urea topdressed at seeding

For 30N - 62kg/ha urea topdressed at seeding + 15kg/ha topdressed six weeks after seeding

For 60N - 62kg/ha urea topdressed at seeding + 80kg/ha urea topdressed six weeks after seeding.

6 May 2013: 2L/ha SpraySeed250 + 118g/ha Sakura

10 June 2013: 300mL/ha Axial + 0.5% Adigor

20 June 2013: 0.67L/ha Velocity + 1% Hasten

TOS 2

28 May 2013: 2L/ha SpraySeed250 + 119g/ha Sakura

22 July 2013: 0.67 L/ha Velocity + 1% Hasten

Growing season rainfall 228mm (opening rains - 46mm in May which fell after the first week)
