While Western Australia is free from many animal and plant pests and diseases, border protection is paramount to halt their entry and establishment. We do however have some rogue pests and diseases that challenge us with their attempts to be part of the landscape.
This forum provides an opportunity to hear from leading experts in biosecurity and to discuss some of the solutions to pressing biosecurity issues facing industry and communities.
Speakers for the forum include:
- Andreas Glanznig, Invasive Animals Cooperative Research Centre: Pest management and innovation in an age of smaller Government and fewer land managers.
- Stephen Hopper, University of Western Australia: Weeds at home: observations and theory from travels in the western Mediterranean and South Africa.
- Susanna Driessen, Plant Health Australia: Emergency Response and Preparedness.
The forum will provide the opportunity for those with a keen interest in maintaining and protecting WA’s agricultural industries and aquatic and terrestrial environments.
The draft Western Australian State Biosecurity Strategy will be released for public comment at the forum.
Cost is $150 for individuals, $75 for students (includes morning tea, lunch and afternoon tea).
