Broadacre farm businesses in Western Australia are invited to participate in a survey examining their financial health status.

The Department of Agriculture and Food has engaged an independent research company to conduct a survey of growers from Northampton to Esperance.

The online survey is expected to reach 5000 broadacre farm businesses.

Department Director General Rob Delane said this analysis would improve understanding of the current situation facing farm businesses, particularly around access to finance for this year’s cropping program.

“The survey will take about 15 minutes to complete and we urge people to take part,” Mr Delane said.

“Grower participation in this survey is highly valued and will contribute to a deeper understanding of the financial position of broadacre businesses.

“The results will inform industry and government decisions and assist in the refinement of programs, activities and services.”

Mr Delane said the survey responses would be kept confidential.

The deadline for responses to the survey is 29 April.

Mr Delane acknowledged CBH Group for its assistance in the distribution of the survey to growers.
