My role in the department

Geoff is a plant pathologist based at the DPIRD South Perth office. His research focuses in two primary areas, epidemiology and integrated management of diseases impacting on production and sustainability of cereal and grain legume cropping in Western Australia and disease screening and resistance phenotyping for the DPIRD lupin breeding program.

He leads the GRDC funded project, ‘Improving grower surveillance, management, epidemiology, knowledge, and tools to manage crop disease – WA’, carrying out disease surveillance, integrated disease management research, crop disease diagnostics, disease identification training and extension of crop disease and management information.through online publications, field days, industry seminars and other avenues to benefit the WA grains industry.

My background

Geoff has over 20 years experience in grains pathology research and extension in WA. I have been involved with field based research in cereal and legume grain crops across the WA wheatbelt. He enjoys and values his experience in extending research outcomes across the grains industry.
