The second edition of The wheat book: principles and practice was published in October 2000 and is still a major reference publication for growers, researchers, consultants, agronomists and students.

The second edition of The wheat book: principles and practice had a number of changes from the first version, including information on weed management, grain quality, marketing, and other wheats. There was also a change in the emphasis of the book from 'a technical manual for wheat producers' to 'principles and practice' of wheat production to accomodate the wide user base.

Topics covered include:

  • Environment
  • The structure and development of the cereal plant
  • Crop water use
  • Nutrition
  • Wheat in farming systems
  • Crop management
  • Weeds, diseases and pests
  • Markets and marketing

Now out of print, electronic copies of this book can be obtained via the Research Library.
