Based at DPIRD’s Manjimup Research Facility this centre will identify domestic and export market opportunities for premium Western Australian agrifood products. As part of DPIRD’s Food Industry Innovation project, the centre will support the viability and growth of food and agribusiness with activities to:
- identify and support opportunities for premium WA agrifood domestic and export market development
- investigate supply and demand issues that constrain the growth of this sector
- pilot collaborative industry projects to address these issues
- transfer knowledge on premium (including organic and low input) production to existing and prospective producers.
A Premium Agrifoods Market Opportunities report will influence project priorities ensuring that the project focusses on market demand and delivers tangible commercial outcomes. Identified opportunities from this report will be prioritised, paving the way for the development of sector and market plans. Extension services will disseminate the intel to industry, assisting WA businesses to upscale and encouraging collective supply to capture priority market opportunities.
