My role in the department
Dr Pires is Research Scientist who supports the development of tools and methods to better understand and manage crop disease in cropping systems and the impacts of current and future climate in rangeland systems. He also supports risk assessment reports of seasonal events (cyclone, wind/water erosion, land cover) and its implications to land managers and rangeland systems.
My background
Dr Pires has more than 10 years of experience in agricultural and environmental research in Australia and Brazil. Rodrigo’s experience spans plant responses to biotic/abiotic stress (e.g. drought, heat, nutrients, pathogens/disease), crop protection and disease management, simulation modelling and design of decision-making support tools. Dr Pires has strong biological and statistical background with R programming expertise.
