Dr Mirza Dowla specializes in plant breeding and joined DPIRD as a research scientist to support a pre-breeding program on wheat's genetic improvement under sodic, magnesic and dispersive soils.

My background

Dr Mirza Dowla has more than 15 years of research experience in the agricultural industry, focusing on developing cultivars tolerant to abiotic stresses like drought, heat and salinity. He is experienced in conventional and marker-assisted breeding, marker development, proteomics, germplasm enhancement and utilization of genetic resources, phenotyping of germplasm and pre-breeding, selection, genetic analysis and project management.
