A new Western Australian Exporter Directory to support the State’s agrifood and beverage sector to expand and diversify into overseas markets has been released.
The directory includes listings for more than 150 exporters and will be used to showcase WA’s high-quality products and engage with international buyers.
The Department of Primary Industries and Regional Development (DPIRD) has worked with stakeholders to produce the Exporter Directory, which promotes WA’s unique selling proposition for high quality food and beverage products.
Industry and Economic Development Deputy Director General Liam O’Connell said the WA Exporter Directory shined a spotlight on individual companies and encouraged increased sales.
“The agrifood and beverage sector is committed to growing our international markets and building long-term relationships with buyers,” Mr O’Connell said.
“The launch of the directory is timely to assist businesses to expand into new markets in response to the impact of COVID-19 on demand and supply chains, as well as other trade disruptions.
“As one of the most biodiverse regions in the world, WA produces an extensive range of food and beverage products, from fruit and vegetables, fresh meat and seafood, cereals and grains, gourmet products, award-winning wines and more.
“The directory is a great initiative to profile our local producers and exporters and share the great taste of WA, while growing the State’s economy.”
Mr O’Connell said WA’s premium food and beverages, worth more than $8 billion in exports in 2020-21, were enjoyed around the world, and led the nation in the export of grains, carrots, strawberries and truffles.
“The passion of WA producers, combined with our ‘clean and green’ environment, has built a strong reputation for the State and we are well placed to meet the growing global demand for premium products, which are sustainably and ethically produced,” he said.
The introduction of the updated WA Exporter Directory has been translated into Chinese, Korean, Japanese, Indonesian, Vietnamese, Thai and Arabic and will be used by the WA Government overseas offices to engage buyers.
The directory will be updated annually to ensure new businesses looking to enhance their export profile can be included.
The directory is available online on the DPIRD section of the www.wa.gov.au [1] website by searching Western Australian Exporter Directory [2].
