The Department of Agriculture and Food will play an active role in the Asia Pacific Food Innovation Conference to be held in Perth today and tomorrow (11 to 12 June).
The conference will focus on innovative solutions for businesses to take advantage of the changing future of food.
The department’s Irrigated Agriculture and Diversification executive director Terry Hill said the department had funded an international expert in the Theory of Constraints (TOC) to speak at the conference.
“As part of its sponsorship contribution to the conference, the department invited Lewis Trigger to share his knowledge about Theory of Constraints - planning for and managing constraints in dynamic, uncertain environments and with scarce resources,” Mr Hill said.
“Mr Trigger is an Australian born industrial engineer (MBA MSc) who has more than 20 years experience in applying TOC within Israel’s military technology and logistics systems and within government and industry.
“His experience in the Israeli Air Force, followed by senior management positions in Israel’s hi-tech market and management teaching at the University of Tel Aviv, has provided Mr Trigger with a wealth of knowledge and experience.
“We welcome Mr Trigger’s contribution to the conference as WA food businesses are keen to know how to work with and overcome their constraints.”
For the past 10 years he has been exporting his expertise to Australia, presenting his workshops to a wide variety of leading Australian companies and organisations.
Department senior policy officer Andrew Duff, who has worked in innovation roles for over 30 years and is a certified New Product Development Professional, will deliver a presentation to the conference about disruptive innovation as a solution for industry.
Mr Hill will deliver the conference opening address.
