This project aims to achieve improved accuracy and time efficiency in scouting for pests in crops, leading to optimised insecticide usage and mitigation of resistance.

Start date: 01/03/2020
Finish date: 31/03/2023

Description:

This project uses multispectral drone cameras – a type of unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) - to map stressed canola and cereal crops. Live normalised difference vegetation index (NDVI) and thermal imagery is utilised to assess their validity for the remote sensing of pest and disease levels. The NDVI and thermal maps will also be compared to MyPestGuide CropScout map and spray threshold maps.
