The Department of Primary Industries and Regional Development has secured temporary accommodation for Merredin-based staff following the closure of the Great Eastern Highway office due to significant storm damage late last month.
The office will be operational from Monday 16 April at the former Landmark office located at 1 Mitchell Street, Merredin.
Regional Director Pam I’Anson said work was underway this week establishing the network connection and transitioning staff into the new premises.
“Research and technical teams will operate between the new office premise and the Merredin Research facilities located on Great Eastern Highway,” Ms I’Anson said
“The building previously operated as a commercial office premises for Landmark and was considered an appropriate and secure location for Merredin's 27 DPIRD staff and five staff from the Department of Biodiversity, Conservation and Attractions.
“Every effort has been made to ensure minimal disruption to important grains research trial preparation, regional services and biosecurity functions and we have been liaising with our research partners and funders including the Grains Research and Development Corporation to keep them fully informed.
“In the meantime, it will be business as usual from next week and members of the public and stakeholders are encouraged to come and visit the team at our temporary offices in Mitchell Street.”
The Merredin office phone number 9081 3111 remains the same.
