The Department of Agriculture and Food has appointed Andrew Negline as the Northern Beef Futures operations manager, based in Broome.

Northern Beef Futures (NBF) is a four year $15 million project funded by the State Government’s Royalties for Regions program.

It aims to transform the northern beef sector to become a more prosperous, sustainable and resilient pastoral industry through market diversity and improved business models and supply chains.

NBF project leader Brad McCormick said he was pleased to welcome Mr Negline to the team.

“Andrew will support industry groups in the Pilbara and Kimberley and work closely with the Kimberley Cattlemen’s Association,” Mr McCormick said.

Mr Negline has extensive experience in the commercial beef and agribusiness sector.

He has worked as an in-country representative for Meat and Livestock Australia in Korea and previously for Cargill Inc Australian Beef division and Franklin Dairy Farm in New South Wales as category manager of beef, pork and lamb.

Mr Negline will be the on-ground manager for the practice change and capability, capacity and leadership, and mosaic agriculture sub projects of Northern Beef Futures.

“I am delighted to be involved in a project that aims to deliver innovative and transformational change within the beef supply and value chains for the benefit of Western Australia,” Mr Negline said.

“The project is a great initiative for the beef sector and promises to deliver unique opportunities for all who wish to participate.”

DAFWA has also recently appointed two additional officers to the NBF project in Broome.

Tim Wiley has been appointed as the mosaic agriculture development officer and Tony Shimmin is the project’s technical officer.
