Next week’s ‘think tank’ forum on sustainable natural resource use in Western Australian agriculture has attracted a strong response from industry.

The Productive Land and Water, Healthy Environment Forum will be hosted next Friday (6 September) by the Department of Agriculture and Food, at the Esplanade Hotel in Fremantle.

Department Executive Director of Agricultural Resource Risk Management John Ruprecht said more than eighty registrations had been received.

“We are still accepting late registrations, so the opportunity to take part is still available,” Mr Ruprecht said.

“This forum is an important opportunity to exchange ideas and knowledge to achieve a healthy, sustainable and prosperous farming community for the future,” Mr Ruprecht said.

“It also provides the first opportunity for industry to take a close look at the department’s new Report card for sustainable natural resource use in agriculture.”

Speakers at the Forum will include Emeritus Professor Alan Robson; Dr Peter Stone, Deputy Director of CSIRO’s Sustainable Agriculture Flagship; Senior Honorary Research Fellow Kevin Goss; Sue Middleton, 2010 Rural Woman of the Year, and senior researchers from the department.

To register for the Forum contact Verity Todd, verity.todd@agric.wa.gov.au or +61 429 993 027.
