My role in the department
I provide technical support for the pasture group. This involves me coordinating and assisting in a range of activities with field and glasshouse experiments, including planning the trials through to establishing and maintaining them. Through all these phases, detail and precision is of critical importance leading to accuracy of data.
I have 35 years of experience in agricultural research, working on pasture legumes breeding, agronomy and field evaluation through to commercial release of new varieties. I also have expertise in monitoring the soil water use of pasture plants, screening and evaluation for pest and disease resistance and salt tolerance. Some of my key responsibilities have been the seed multiplication for commercial release of new varieties and maintaining working genebanks and seed storage.
