Assisting barley growers to make the right variety decision for their farming system. The 2019 Barley variety sowing guide is a one stop shop for barley variety information in Western Australia.

The 2019 Barley variety sowing guide for Western Australia is now available to assist grain growers in deciding which variety will best suit their cropping program.

The Department of Primary Industries and Region Development has released the guide, co-funded by Grains Research and Development Corporation (GRDC), to enable growers to select varieties tailored for their region.

As the number of barley varieties available to growers increase, the decision of which variety to use, come seeding time, has become more difficult. The guide provides an independent appraisal of the most relevant barley varieties available to growers in WA. This includes market feedback, grain yield comparisons, disease resistance ratings, herbicide tolerance and agronomic attributes.

This year's guide has information on new varieties plus those which will be released in the coming years, quick reference variety snapshots and detailed agronomic information on over 20 varieties relevant to WA.

A printed copy of the guide will be sent to grain growers and industry members through GRDC's Groundcover network and will arrive in time for this year's harvest.
