Animal Pests

The Vertebrate Animal Pest section has been developed for anyone with an interest in pest animals and their effects in Western Australia. These pages contain a variety of information about vertebrate pest policies, services and activities by the Department of Agriculture and Food.

Plant Pests

The Invertebrate Animal Pest section exists for anyone with an interest in plant pests and their effects in Western Australia. Information on pest insects, entomology, various databases and Pestfax.

The Invasive Species Program is responsible for the strategic and operational management of serious weeds and pest animals that pose a threat to agriculture production systems, related environmental resources, and market accessibility for agricultural produce in Western Australia.

Severe outbreaks of Australian Plague Locusts are also managed under this program.

Activities include State and National policy development, risk assessment, research and development, provision of technical advice and information, implementation of regulation, emergency response, property inspections, industry liaison, and the planning and coordination of significant species control/eradication programs.
