

People visiting or relocating to Western Australia must observe interstate quarantine requirements. Quarantine risk materials must be disposed of or declared for inspection at the point of entry into the State - see Passenger Clearance.

Animals accompanying travellers into Western Australia are also subject to import restrictions.
Persons relocating to Western Australia are likely to bring personal effects with them. Interstate quarantine requirements may be satisfied by the submission of a Personal Effects declaration, which enables any quarantine risk items to be identified prior to transport. Quarantine WA will advise the client or their agent in the case that an inspection upon arrival is required.
Personal effects not accompanied by a declaration to the contrary are considered risk items, and may be detained for inspection. Personal effects are also subject to freight surveillance.

Intrastate
Quarantine - Ord River Irrigation Area (ORIA)Stone-fruit and citrus fruit are prohibited entry into the Ord River Irrigation
Area (around Kununurra) from another part of the State between 1 April
and 30 November each year unless the fruit is certified as meeting movement
requirements by an officer from the Department of Agriculture and Food, Western
Australia.
These restrictions are in place to prevent the introduction of Mediterranean
fruit fly (Ceratitis capitata) into the area.

concerned with movement of stone fruit and citrus into the ORIA is available.
Palm plants and palm material may not be moved from the Broome area to other
parts of the state unless certain requirements are met, in order to prevent
the spread of Palm Leaf Beetle.
