Orchard Alert

A pest and disease monitoring and advisory service to Deciduous Fruit Growers in WA

Orchard Alert, is established as a service to apple, pear and stonefruit growers in Western Australia to provide a weekly pest and disease news service on

  • Current situation and developments;
  • Management updates
  • Field days, meetings and other relevant information.

Orchard Alert combines existing pests and disease information and includes information from pest scouting services as well as results from monitoring on grower properties around the South West. Growers are encouraged to report outbreaks so that the weekly Orchard Alert Bulletins will provide up to date information that is relevant & timely for the different fruit growing areas.

Orchard Alert is intended to be an ongoing program that can be expanded to other crops as required. While the Department will provide staff, industry contributions to its operating costs will be important and the initial financial contributions from the Hills Orchard Improvement Group, Donnybrook Orchard Improvement Group, Newton Bros. Orchard and Casuarina Valley Orchard deserve special acknowledgement.
