This document was revised in May 2007, its purpose was to neatly summarise the laws and legislation relevant to environmental management by land holders at that point in time, it does not include any changes to legislation that have since occurred.

The legislation relevant to environmental management by landholders is numerous and complex with changes to existing laws and introduction of new laws occurring from time to time. While we hope it will be of use, this document is not intended to be comprehensive and should not be seen as a substitute for professional legal advice.

Landholders may use this guide to gain a general understanding of their legal obligations to manage the environment.

Additional information, including details of relevant Codes of Practice, can also be obtained from the agencies administering the listed legislation. These agencies, and other relevant organisations, are listed at the end of this document.
