                          bweb

Supporting the Western Australian Food Industry and Community

Buy West, Eat Best is aimed at providing Western Australian consumers and the Western Australian food industry with a food-specific brand to clearly identify Western Australian food products.

The program is managed and controlled by the Department of Agriculture and Food, Western Australia.

What does the Buy West, Eat Best logo mean?

Western Australian businesses that display the Buy West, Eat Best logo have to meet certain criterion, which ensures certain standards of local content and quality.

Businesses must apply to the Department of Agriculture and Food, Western Australia to use the logo, and they must meet all of the criteria before being registered.

For fresh products, such as fruit, vegetables, meat and seafood, the products must be grown, fished or farmed in Western Australia.

For processed food, such as sauces, yoghurts, cheese, bread, wine etc, the main ingredient must be grown, fished or farmed in Western Australia and the product must be processed in Western Australia.

                          Monitoring and Compliance

To make sure the Buy West, Eat Best logo is being used correctly the Department of Agriculture and Food carries out monitoring to ensure compliance. This involves regular random checks at both the retail and manufacture levels. Only registered businesses can use the logo on product packaging and only registered retailers can use the logo for point of sale advertising.

If you have seen the logo and want to check that it is being used properly, refer to the 'who's registered tab' or contact us for more information.
