HARRT - Hydrograph Analysis - Rainfall and Time Trend software
Description
HARTT is a user-friendly software program for hydrograph analysis to separate rainfall and time trend.
The analysis of groundwater trends is critical in the study of salinity risk and the effectiveness of preventative measures. Ferdowsian et al.(2001) presented a new approach - HARTT for statistically estimating trends in groundwater levels. The approach separates the effect of atypical rainfall events from underlying time trends and the lag between rainfall and its impact on groundwater is explicitly represented. The method improves the estimation of time trends and allows for better interpretation of treatment effects on groundwater levels.
HARTT software was developed to aid hydrologists with the analysis of groundwater hydrographs (Majidi, Ferdowsian and McCarron, 2002). The software is easy to use and eliminates cumbersome data operations. It is a useful tool in hydrological studies. For more information see - further readings.

Downloading and installing HARTT-XLS
Please read the important disclaimer.
- Right mouse click to save the file "Hartt_part1.zip" to an empty temporary folder. Note that this is a large file (2.9MB) and may take considerable time to download.
- Extract the files contained in this zip file to the same folder. You may use shareware software such as WinZip if your system doesn't automatically recognise zipped files (WinZip is available from various Internet sites).
- Double click on the file named "HARTT-XLS.msi" and follow the instructions. For some computers running older operating systems, you may receive a message asking you to update your Windows Installer program. If you encounter such a message, then please also right mouse click to save the file "Hartt_part2.zip" (also 2.9MB) to the same folder as Step 1 above, extract its files to the same folder, then double-click the "Setup.exe" file and follow the instructions. By default, HARTT-XLS will be installed in the folder "C:\ Program Files\HARTT-XLS".
- After successful installation, you may remove the setup files from the temporary folder.
Registering HARTT-XLS
Following installation of HARTT-XLS, the first time the software is run, you will be prompted to register your copy by providing some basic contact information. The program automatically emails a uniquely generated number (referred to as the transmission code) to Lote-Tree Software together with your contact information and basic system support details. Upon receipt of this request, a corresponding unlock code (called registration code) is emailed back to you, which, once entered, will thereafter allow HARTT-XLS to be used on that computer. A registration fee of $50 (inclusive of GST) will be charged for this service per installed computer, for users of HARTT-XLS version 4.0 and beyond. The registration information you supply is used to track the number of copies of HARTT-XLS in use and to record the details of users for the purposes of support, notification of updates etc. Your registration details are kept confidential and will not be shared with any external parties.
The HARTT-XLS files include:
- Ferdowsian et al. (2001).pdf
- HARTT Manual.pdf
- Data input example.xls
- Data input template.xls
- The HARTT program files, installed using HARTTXLS.EXE
If you have any problems installing or running HARTT-XLS please contact Lote-Tree Software at support@lotetree.com.au.
