Education
The department’s Education Initiative focuses on four key areas:

Support for secondary agricultural schools and colleges
AgLinkEd provides technical expertise and professional support for educators and trainers.

Marketing and industry engagement in tertiary education
Supports outreach programs at tertiary institutions, promotes educational programs and activities, and facilitates links with schools and industry.

Promotion of education, training, careers and resources
Promotes agriculture through our website, display and information materials, AgLinkEd e-news, and a range of annual events and field days.

Coordination and information management
Provides coordination of educational activities within the department, and develops strategic links and collaborates with other organisations with mutual interests.
There are a number of facilities and activities in WA that offer students and the general community an opportunity to learn more about agriculture, farming and the source of our food and fibre:
Kelmscott Senior High School Primary School Awareness Program
The farm is located at Kelmscott in Perth and offers primary school visits on Mondays and Tuesdays during school term. For further information contact the Primary Liaison Officer on 0409 688 853
Landsdale Farm
The farm is located at Darch in Perth and provides an educational rural environment for students and the community to view plants and animals and gain an appreciation of living things.
Lockridge Senior High School (SHS) Primary School Awareness Program
The farm is located at Kiara in Perth and offers primary school visits each week day during school term.
FarmDay
Farm Day provides an opportunity for farming families to host city families for a day of real hands-on experiences and a greater understanding of the day-to-day life of the farming family.

There are a range of scholarships available for students wishing to pursue studies in agriculture at a post-secondary level.

- Do you get a buzz out of developing people, products or processes to maximise their potential?
- Do you enjoy travelling around the State?
- Do you feel strongly about protecting and developing the States environment and resources?
- Do you want to be part of the States second largest export industry?

Agriculture Linking Education
AgLinkEd is a collaborative effort between the Department of Agriculture and Food and the Department of Education to support secondary agricultural schools and colleges. The project provides technical expertise and professional development for educators and trainers at agricultural colleges and schools across a range of agricultural disciplines.
